Saint johns wort is a very good alternative to some of the anti depressants on the shelf, give it go it sounds ilike you have nothing to lose.Idont know too much about eating disorders, but i feel you may be addicted to your thinking, addicted to the negative power it gives your self and is sending you out of balance quite badly by the sounds of it. Drugs are not always the answer to problems and some times its gonna take work from you, by being more responsible for what you are thinking, maybe some positive psychology wpuld help ,you can ask your doctor to see pscychologist. It may also take a while to find the right one for you.Just dont give up yet and put some faith in knowing you will find the answers one day soon.

How To Overcome Emetophobia
Thoughtful I want to share with you a method on how to get over emetophobia. This is a pretty rare phobia that a person can have and I would argue that one in a thousand people probably don’t know what this is. Basically it is an irrational fear of vomiting.

That doesn’t sound like anything bad. I know I don’t like to vomit and I think most people don’t like doing it either, but you have to remember that this is an irrational fear. Due to the fact that it is irrational, it will effect other parts of their life and really start to take over. That is why I want to show you how to get over emetophobia because it is a real problem that will take over your life. The irrational side of this problem really boils down to a really bad case of anxiety. They don’t like vomiting, but that can surprisingly move into all areas of their life. Imagine the concept of eating at a restaurant. This is scary to a sufferer for a number of reasons. The food you order could be contaminated or not cooked all the way through. Someone in the restaurant could have a cold and the germs could get on you. Any of these things could cause them to get sick and end up vomiting. What happens is that they’ll close off from the world, live in their home and not leave because it is on the only place they can control.

Do I Have Emetophobia?
Happiness
Anyway, I have had this practically all my life. I can remember being SO scared of throwing up as a kid.
But really only in the past decade has it gripped my life so hard that it has actually turned into a form of agoraphobia. I can’t travel more than 4-5 miles away from home without starting to get panic attacks with fear of throwing up or panicking.

It has ruined career possibilities and numerous relationships. It’s about to ruin another one.

Emetophobia Questions And Answers - Is There A Cure?

Is there a cure for emetophobia?
I’m a 16 year old girl, and I’ve had emetophobia for about three years now. I just wanted to know if there was a cure. I’ve wasted too much of my life/time on this phobia. Thank you for your answers, I greatly appreciate it. Answer from an emetophobic:

Emetophobia is more common than you might think. It is not something you are born with, but is a learned behavior as a result of specific childhood expriences. Since it is something you learned, you can also unlearn it. There are various types of therapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Neuro-linguistics, and a few others that help emetophobia. The downside is this can be very expensive.

There are also lots of programs available online. The great news is there is a cure for emetophobia. If you think about it, emetophobia is caused by your fear. Your fear is something created by your mind. If something is created by your mind, it is totally within your control. All you need to do is use techniques and exercises to get control over your mind.

There are a lot of treatments available out there and although some kind be expensive, others are far more reasonably priced. Also, you have to ask yourself, how much is being able to live without emetophobic fear worth to me? For most people with emetophobia symptoms the reply would be it is worth a lot.

Living With Emetophobia….My Story
My mom looking out the back door. I have alway...
Living with any kind of phobia must be, at best, inconvenient, and no doubt can become a living hell. One well-known example is agoraphobia. Less well-known, but apparently very common, is emetophobia, which is narrowly defined as a fear of vomiting, but usually includes the additional fear of seeing other people vomiting, and also extends to a general fear of feeling nauseous. Generally, the effect on the life of an emetophobe is that he or she lives a life dictated by a constant programme of trying to avoid becoming nauseous or being exposed to people who are. For me, and probably for countless other women sufferers, the most profoundly traumatic effect was the impact my phobia had on me during motherhood, which in its early stages is a period which is almost defined by nausea and vomiting. And that was only the beginning.

Aside from my children, there were many other strands of life that this phobia affected. For instance, I am still troubled by guilt that I didn’t adequately support friends who were ill (including two who ultimately died from cancer) because of a fear of them vomiting in my presence. I am now a grandmother and I hope to live the rest of my life free from fear. Emetophobia can take over your life, it can give you feelings of guilt and of shame. The key is to take control of your feelings. You may feel guilt about the things you did or didn’t do, but rather than dwell on them think about the future.

When you make the decision to overcome emetophobia you can make sure you never restrict your behaviour because of emetophobia symptoms again. You can always be there for your children and your loved ones. You created emetophobia inside your mind and that means you can beat it.
Another Story Of Emetophobia Success
Happiness My name is Sally and this is my emetophobia success story! I guess the real reason I posted this is because:

a. I am pretty proud of myself – Beating emetophobia has taken me a long time and I finally feel like I have got the “real me” back. b. I want other people that have emetophobia to know that it IS possible – I spent years not believing I could beat emetophobia. I know from spending times in forums and chatting to other emetophobics that so many others feel this complete despair. I just wanted to give people a little hope.

I started suffering from emetophobia when I was 7 years old. I remember thinking I might be sick and it scaring the life out of me. This fear just grew and grew. Soon, I began changing my behavior to try and lessen the fear. This must be a pretty familiar story for many of you. As soon as I started changing my behavior it all went downhill To read the rest of this post, visit

It’s pretty easy to feel that no one get’s over emetophobia. When you hang out in chat rooms it can be a bit depressing, you hear a lot about emetophobia symptoms and not a lot about emetophobia recovery. The truth is there are people overcoming emetophobia every single day. There are success stories and there are people that have faced their emetophobic fear and won. You can be a success story and the first step is to know that you have the strength to face your fear.
Don’t Let Emetophobia Be Your Prison
Description unavailable
I say that it doesn’t matter what emetophobia is, there are hundreds of articles online repeating over and over the same scientific definition of what emetophobia is. If you are emetophobic you don’t care about definitions! All you care about is how it’s affecting your life and how living with emetophobia can be a nightmare.

Most people don’t understand phobias, until they suffer from one. It’s hard for “normal people” to understand how lonely you can feel when you cannot share your most inner fears with them. Imagine what it is to really be supported by your life partner, by friends and by all your family, to know that they are there for you no matter what.

If you are like most emetophobics this may bring a tear to your eyes, how could you tell your life partner about this fear? How could you tell your friends about it? Don’t even think about telling your boss or your work colleagues! That would be impossible and life breaking right?

Wrong!

The reason that you may feel alone is that you are hiding in an invisible prison which walls you keep building every day.

To read the rest of this article click here You make emetophobia your prison when you hide your phobia day after day. When you isolate and shut yourself off from the people around you that love and care about you.

Trying to overcome emetophobia and stop emetophobia symptoms without a strong support network around you turns something that will be tough, into something almost impossible. Are you so sure your phobia will be laughed at or that it is so different from the fears that everyone has? Share your fears and start getting over emetophobia.

How do you feel about beating emetophobia? Some emetophobic people just have an epiphany and know that they are going to kick emetophobia and find a cure. They are so sure of themselves. They think enough is enough. Often this is not the case and the tipping point is someone else intervening or, them finding the courage to talk to someone about their emetophobia.

The second article within our emetophobia success series, focusing on people who have beaten emetophobia, rather than the symptoms of emetophobia, looks at Melissa’s story. Melissa started on her road to recovery when Natalie, her second year college roommate, noticed something was wrong. Natalie thought it was an eating disorder and expected Melissa to confess to bulimia or anorexia. This is very common with emetophobics. Although emetophobia is the 5th most common phobia, very few people know about it. If you add into the mix the fact that many emetophobic’s symptoms revolve around food, or situations related to food, this misconception is not surprising.

Melissa was petrified of food poisoning and contracting some kind of stomach virus. She spent hours on a simple weekly grocery run. This was one of the many things that made Natalie suspicious. Click here to read the rest of Melissa’s story and how she beat emetophobia.

Although it may seem like the most difficult thing in the world to do, when you confide in someone about your emetophobia you will feel better. When you keep it inside you isolate yourself further which will de-rail your emetophobia recovery. One of the best things about confiding in someone is having someone who can hold you accountable when you are getting treatment to overcome emetophobia. They will also know you are going through a tough time and can support and motivate you to reach your treatment goals.
